This is an amalgamation of Smookesie's and a certain beer swilling German event. Claire and I did this for just the 2 of us during the time of lockdowns and we had so much fun. We put together a German menu, procured liberal quantities of Warsteiner and downloaded a Bavarian band from Spotify.
I think it is time to do it again during Oktoberfest period. Invites will go out in due course.
There are pockets of my house that are crammed with stuff that has not been used for years and is very unlikely to ever be used again. What is it about these middens that has our brains thinking "well, that might come in handy one day"?
I do have an intention to downsize in 2-3 years time and, to do that successfully, I need to reduce the amount of stuff that moves with me. I think it will probably take those 2-3 years to get rid of everything but I have to start somewhere. So let's see how that goes.
UPDATE 22 Feb - Progress has been made and I am being ruthless. 2 'crap' drawers have been purged and I have ripped out some cupboards that hoard all manner of stuff. These will be replaced by racking to keep inventory management a lot easier. Job for the kids on Tuesday. They enjoy doing stuff like that!!
I did this a couple of years ago and ended up with way more than I was using. So, this time, I'm going minimalist with 3 window ledge pots, which will add a touch of style to my kitchen as well as having an available supply of taste for some of my meals.
Plan is to rotate the planting so I have seasonal plants.
Zip World have grown their options considerably in the 9 years since I plummeted down the Velocity zip wire.
This activity will be dependent on cost and thrill rating; I'm not going to do do something just for a tick in the box. So, there is a possibility that this one may not complete. Who knows?
Adam and Eve (Siôn a Siân in Welsh) is a rite of passage for anyone who frequents the mountains of Eryri / Snowdonia, specifically Tryfan. For the uninitiated, Adam and Eve are 2 large boulders at the summit of Tryfan. These boulders are clearly visible from the A5 road at the foor of the mountain.
Quite simply, the challenge is to take a large stride from Adam to Eve. For someone (like me) who is not entirely comfortable with this sort of shenanigans, this will present quite a hefty challenge. But, despite spending many fine hours in the mountains, can I truly say I've fully experienced them without taking this leap of faith?
I will wait for the winter to pass and choose a nice dry, sunny day though. I'm not mad!!
Wild camping is such a great way to spend time in the hills and not have to get back to the car before dark. You'll nearly always be on your own, unless you choose a well known location, so there is time to sit back and reflect on all manner of things.
Technically, wild camping is illegal in England and Wales but, for the most part, if you arrive late, leave early and leave no trace that you were there, it is unlikely anyone will bother you.
Not much to say about this one. Haven't done any video yet but blogs are starting to appear under various headings, so have a surf and check them out.
Despite living in Scotland and making numerous visits back, I have never been to a highland games. I'm not sure how many of the indigenous peoples have been themselves, but it's a gap that aim to rectify for myself. Going to drag a couple of friends along also. Oh, and my Mum wants to come too!!
Aiming to see if there is one that has a ceilidh in the evenings but, I'm told this isn't too common.
