Write and Record a Song

I've written hundreds, possibly thousands of lines of lyric over the years and have been influenced by dozens of songwriters. Occasionally I have come up with a bit of a melody, joined the 2 up in a manner that has allowed me to churn something out.

All of these efforts have been largely forgotten so I thought it would be really cool to actually record something. How that will work out yet, I don't know but I doubt Ed Sheeran will be shitting himself at the prospect of the result!!

Write a Short Story

What constitutes a shorty story? Just as there are opinions on how many books make a library, there are differences in short story definition. I have 2 friends who are published authors; one of them says it should be at least 5,000 words, with competition entries often requiring 10,000. I haven't asked the other yet but, I suspect his answer may be different.

I have a premise for my story and it is primarily built around character definition and a link between the characters, which forms less of the story. As I'm not intending to publish anywhere other than on Wattpad app and this Site, so I'm going for quality over quantity and the critics can say what they like.

Create a Piece of Art

What actually is art? I have always avoided exhibitions due the smug pretentiousness of 'critics'. People who tend to avoid real life in favour of looking down their noses at people when they "don't get it".

I finally walked around an exhibition, in Madrid, of a chap called James Lee Byars. There were some very interesting pieces and I didn't have the foggiest what he might have been trying to achieve. But I realised that art is whatever YOU want it to be and what it represents to you. Once I had that realisation, I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the gallery.

No idea what my piece will be yet but whatever it is, I'm not going to explain it, make your own minds up.

Knit a Scarf

Another task inspired by my mother. She will sit and knit for hours and makes some wonderful things. I always thought it looks really complicated and not something for someone with the dexterity of a haddock!!

But, really, how hard can it be? Tom Daley does it for Pete's sake!!

We'll see!!

The task has started - follow the journey on Blogspot

Make a Lasagne

People don't believe me because I cook so much but I have never made a lasagne.

Another one that comes under the 'how hard can it be?' banner!!

Bake Bread

Anyone who has got this far must now be thinking "bake bread? I thought this was the creativity section?"

Believe me, making things is not my forte in life. I have wonderful ideas sometimes in my head but my hands never seem to read the memo properly.

Anyway I though a nice ciabatta would go well with the lasagne.

Buon appetito
